The southernmost nation in Africa is South Africa, often known as the Republic of South Africa (RSA). Its southern border is made up of 2,798 kilometers (1,739 mi) of coastline that runs along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans; its northern border is made up of the neighboring nations of Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe; and its eastern and northeastern borders are made up of Mozambique and Eswatini. Lesotho is likewise entirely enclaved by it. The executive, judicial, and legislative branches of South Africa's government are located in Pretoria, Bloemfontein, and Cape Town, respectively. Johannesburg is the most populous city.
